On Saturday 6th September 2025, I’m taking part in my second ever poetry slam.
- Will I get so nervous I fail to make a sound?
- UPDATE: No.. I managed to speak!
- Will I get to read more than one poem?
- (perhaps I should consider reading short poems and do more than one in Round1?)
- UPDATE: No. It was the one poem
- Will I crash out after Round 1?
- UPDATE: Yes. I got pulled out of the hat in the same round as the eventual winner and 4th place, so the odds were clearly not in my favour!
- Will I ever have the courage to try again?
- PROBABLY: It’s definitely an experience. A bit nerve wracking, but a great to chance to try out poems out loud. And I found some new poets to look into. So win/win I guess?!
The answers to these and many other questions can only be answered after 6th. I’ll update then
